Croston House Walk

Croston House is a charity foundation and its biggest aim is to provide the opportunity of a better future for children who don’t have anyone to look after them. In October the foundation had organized a special event to raise money and awareness of the children in Croston House. For that purpose we had to walk for 12 km, with those children.

What were my aims?
My objectives for that event were to firstly to find some sponsors, raising about 1000-2000 baht and of course communicate and spend a fun time with the children from the Croston House.I hoed to develop myself as a caring and communicator person.

What did I do? What difficulties did I encounter?
Mr.Croston's speech.
The day before the actual event, it was brilliant to meet up with the children from the Croston House, and to be able to host them in our boarding house. The Croston kids arrived in the early evening and shares a meal with us. Seeing their smiling faces made me feel so good inside, knowing that I am surely one of those people who will be next to people who a help.  I was a bit nervous though, because the kids didn’t know much English but as we spent some time together, like playing lots of energetic games in the gym, the language barrier didn’t seem to be a problem anymore.
The next day with a positive energy, we walked 12 km by doing a corporative job! We didn’t pay attention how hot the day was and how tired we were. We were walking for one reason: to show that we must respect each others’ rights… we are all humans and we are equal, so if we see someone who needs a help or is not in a good conditions we all should help them.

What did I achieve?
We walked the talk.
In the end of the day I was feeling good as I met my objectives by having a good time with the kids and hopefully raising the awareness. But most importantly I could raise about 1000 baht, which will be another small contribution to the charity. I felt that I did something positive and I could see myself as a caring person. As I also interacted with the kids, I developed my communication skills as well.
Now I can say that didn’t just talk the talk but…WE WALKED THE WALK!
